Chapter 4: She's Not Only A Problem, She's A Threat.

Vernon walks into a large room and lays down in the center of the floor. Three women, wearing plain red dresses, immediately walk towards him with a bucket of warm water, a brush, and rags. They start cleaning the blood off his fur. The women are quietly working and they avoid eye contact with him. The women all jump as a voice from across the room speaks to him.

"Is she going to be a problem"

“Yes." He replies without hesitation. Vernon looks up and sees a man sitting in a very large chair his fingers are crossed and his foot is tapping the ground impatiently.

"What do you mean ‘yes’?" he asks.

Vernon sighs deeply, he’s exhausted from the long night.

“Do you want me to lie to you? You sent 30 mystics, 16 unicorns and me out to find her and capture her. She killed one of my blessings, injured another, and not to mention all of the idiot humans that let her slip away. Do you want me to lie to you, say she’s not a problem? Because a woman who fights as well as she fights, runs as well as she runs, and hides as well as she hides, is not someone who will just go away easily. She could see us at all times. Your mystics need to use special technology to see and hear us. She can see us at anytime. She could hear us at anytime. She’s not only a problem, she’s a threat. All of my instincts are telling me that she will be back."

The man stands up frustrated “What do you want me to do with that?”

"I don’t want you to do anything with that. I want you to capture her and bring her to me so I can end her.”

The man throws something hard across the room almost hitting one of the women. They jump up and run to the side of the room scared.

"YOU WORK FOR ME!" He yells. Vernon narrows his eyes at him and stands up. The man takes a deep shaky breath and collects himself. "You all work for me. You should be bringing her to me! We cannot have a human out there knowing even a little about this life that I built from the ground up.”

"You’re right boss. I apologize. I’ll work on finding her at once." He says bowing his head and leaving the room.

After the door closes behind him three unicorns walk up to him and pause. "What do you need us to do boss?”

"I need you to tell Research to find out everything they can about Saturn prunancia.”

"On it!” They reply in synch.

Saturn wakes up and feels something heavy on her chest. Meep is sleeping on her and snoring slightly. She smiles and stares at the ceiling thinking of how they got to this point.

Unicorns came to the Golden City last year one by one. There was a huge spectacle in the center of the city Square. One unicorn. One solid white unicorn. I’ve seen a lot of unicorns since then and none of them are solid white. They have spots, different colors some red, some black, even some tan, but that first unicorn was solid white. She was a spectacle for everyone to see, and everyone did come to see it, the streets were filled with traffic the city Square was crowded with people. Anyone and everyone came to look at the first unicorn.

Hell even I showed up. I was just as curious as everybody else. The unicorn was not what I expected. She was sad you could see it in her eyes. She was sad and something else. Something that I couldn’t recognize. That something led me to be suspicious of them from the very beginning. I haven’t seen her since, and I haven’t see that look on anyone else’s face either. Why was she there? Why was she so sad?

Saturn lays meep on the couch and goes to the bathroom. She turns on the water to the shower and looks in the mirror staring at her face. She looks into her dark brown eyes, they might as well be black. They stare back at her. There’s blood smeared on her cheek. Her deep red hair unravels and lets the blades down, dropping them into the sink. She climbs in the shower and thinks of the hundreds of people missing in the last year.

Why didn’t I notice sooner? Why did I just ignore it? All of those people dead and I did nothing? "Do you really care about strangers dying?" A small voice in her head asks. "Or do you only care about having something to fight and distract you?" She closes her eyes and lets the water run down her face. I’m not a hero. I wasn’t raised to be a hero. I was raised to control my powers and survive. All of NyKo's children are. She thinks of her dad teaching a 6 year old Saturn how to throw rubber knives.

"Okay Saturn, are you sure you want to learn how to throw knives?” NyKo says holding ten knives in his hand.

Her hair stretches out to grab the knife, and he pulls it out of reach. "Yeah dad I wanna be a ninja!”

Her dad laughs. "A ninja?!”

"Yeah! Were you ever a ninja?"

"Now let me think.... No I tried to be a one but i wasn’t good at being quiet."

"Ninjas have to be quiet?"

"Ohh yes they have to be sneaky and You know I love to talk."

Saturn laughs. "I can be quiet!"

"You think so baby well I look forward to you being a ninja."

"A ninja or a samurai!" She says waving her hands around like she has a sword.

"You can be whoever you want to be a ninja a samurai a hero or a villain or librarian. I will love you no matter what you choose, but you have to learn how to control your hair. Deal?”

If I was a hero I would have done something a year ago. I did notice what was happening, I just didn’t care until it was right in front of me blood literally dripping from its mouth, and I still don’t know if I wanna be a hero.

Meep walks in the bathroom. “So what do you wanna do?" He asks her.

Meep knows she’s been stewing thinking about what to do next. "Are we leaving the city?”

Saturn turns off the water and sighs. "Do you think we should?”

"It’s the safest option, but we both know you don’t care about safe options.”

Saturn rolls her eyes. "I didn’t ask what the safest option was, I asked what do you think we should do.”

"I think that I can't make that decision for you. I’m your guardian. I’m with you until the end.”

"And if the end comes with a unicorn horn through the chest?” She asks sarcastically.

"Well then, at least we had fun?” he asks laughing.

Saturn smiles. “Fun… Yes. Let’s just focus on fun. No heroes, villains, ninjas, or Samurais. Just fun."

"Okay so what sounds fun?" Meep asks.

Saturn thinks for a minute. "Finding “Boss” or Vernon and getting some questions answered."
