Chapter 3: What Are You?

Vernon locks eyes with Saturn. His eyes full of hatred and his nostrils flair with every breath.

"You don't have time to fight him. " Meep says.

"Well why don't you tell him that?!" Saturn exclaims. Several mystics run into the hallway standing around Vernon. Saturn focuses on Vernon and memorizes his face and the patterns on his fur.

"Are you okay boss?" One of the mystics says to him.

"Kill her." He tells them.

"But our orders are to capture her alive." one mystic replies.

Vernon growls and his nostrils flare out before stabbing his horn through the mystic who questioned him. He drops the body to the ground and yells at the remaining mystics. "KILL HER!"

One mystic charges at Saturn and lifts a long pole up to hit her. She catches the arm holding the pole and uses the knife in her other hand to cut his torso. She cuts him from under the arm down to his belly button. The mystic yells in pain dropping the pole. Saturn catches the pole and hits him in the back of his head. He falls to the ground groaning and holding his side. Saturn pulls her hood off and kicks open a door. The mystics run towards her and she turns back to face them. As she speaks her hair unfolds from the top of her hair and the mystics stop.

"Boys I'm actually super excited to be able to play with so many people, but I really have to go." Each strand reaches out pointing a blade at the mystics. Saturn stands at the end of the hall covered in blood and surrounded by bodies. Her hair forms a circle of tentacle-like arms each with a weapon. Her face has a playful grin on it. Her eyes strong steady waiting for someone to make a move. Her hair surrounds her face, reminding her enemies of Medusa with her snakes ready to attack.

The mystics eyes widen and they take a few steps back. None of them were prepared for this. They were told that there was a woman out there who could see the unicorns at all times. They expected to find her and trick her into going with them. They did not expect her to be dangerous if anything they just expected to capture her and hand her over to headquarters. The men who work for headquarters known as the mystics we're not prepared to fight and unknown enemy.

Vernons eyes widen but not with fear, his eyes widen with interest. This woman who supposed to be a piece of cake to capture has powers that no one expected. She has strength that no one expected. Vernon saw her as a minor inconvenience when she interrupted his dinner, but now he sees her as a worthy adversary. He sees her as someone who not only took down two of his own soldiers, but is probably well equipped to take down all of his soldiers.

"What are you, Saturn Prunancia?" He asked with actual interest. Saturn smiles at him.

"Today I'm just a girl who wants to get out of here alive, but I'll see you later." She runs into the room and jumps through the back window.

Saturn walks down a crowded street and listens over the line in her ear. The mystics yell frantically looking for her. She pulls the ear piece out and throws it away.

"Well where do we go now?" She asks Meep.

"I believe one of your sisters has a safe house on this side of town you could ask to borrow it for a while." Meep says.

"That's a great idea lead the way."

Saturn enters the safe house the first thing she does, after turning on the lights, is check out the fridge. She finds a bottle of wine and opens it up pouring it into a glass filling it to the top. She removes Meep and his backpack from her earring and takes off her blood soaked clothes. Meep grows to his normal size as Saturn lays on the couch, and takes a long drink from the glass.

"Don't you think it's time to call NyKo?" Meep asks. Saturn sighs and pulls out her phone pressing buttons. The phone rings on speaker and Saturn falls deeper into the couch getting comfortable. A voice answers and Saturn notices a smile on her face before saying.

 "Hello father."

"Saturn! My baby how are you?" NyKo exclaims through the phone.

"I'm good Dad how are you?"

"Oh nothing to complain about here just alive and kicking." He says sighing.

"That's almost enough to make anyone complain, dad." Saturn says laughing.

"True true. Is that why you called to make sure I'm still alive, or have you been getting into trouble?" Nyko asks suspiciously.

"Well honestly I am not the one who gets into trouble. I'm always minding my own business when trouble just... Finds me." Saturn says swirling the wine in her glass.

"Mhmm" NyKo hums through the phone. "What did you do this time?"

"I didn't do anything dad, I promise, I just have a question or two for you."

 "How can I help you?"

"What do you know about unicorns?"

"Didn't you asked me this a year ago when they started showing up?"

"Yes I did and you said unicorns were harmless, but harmless unicorns don't stab people in the chest and eat their bodies. You actually didn't even tell me that they eat humans!" Saturn exclaims.

"Well that's because unicorns don't typically eat humans. I mean yes they can eat whatever they want to eat. They could only drink water if they want and still survive on just that. Everything they eat gets turned into the energy they need to survive. So I guess if a unicorn wanted to eat a human it would turn into basic energy."

"But it's more work to hunt and eat humans than it would be to simply eat grass." Saturn says.

"True, which is why most unicorns just eat grass." NyKo says. Saturn lays quietly thinking and her father just waits patiently.

"Last time we talked you said you didn't know why they would start showing themselves."

"I still don't know. Usually they don't hang around humans, they don't live in the city, they live in remote places islands any place is not inhabited by humans. So it really doesn't make sense that they're there." NyKo says thinking out loud.

"If they all decided eating humans is the new vegan then yeah it makes perfect sense why they would show up in a city." Saturn mutters under her breath.

 "True." NyKo says.

"Another question, I can always see unicorns even during times when no one else can. Do you know why that is?"

"Probably because you're not just human Saturn. You can do things that other humans can't, like controlling your hair. Maybe the ability to see unicorns all the time is just because you're my daughter." NyKo says laughing.

Saturn smiles shaking her head and just drinking her wine.

"Are you sure you don't need my help? Sounds like you stumbled into something dangerous." NyKo says concerned.

"I'm just trying to figure out the truth dad. I'm not trying to start a war I'll be careful I promise."

"Okay if you need me you know how to call me. Also if you're saying unicorns are eating humans there's no way they could eat all of one. Unicorns don't have a very large stomachs they don't need much food to convert into energy. So unless they're only eating toddlers they either need to share one body with three unicorns, dump the body somewhere, or take the body back with them.

Meep starts typing feverishly on his computer. Saturn looks over at him. "Okay thanks dad that's really helpful."

"No problem. I love you."

"I love you too." Saturn says before hanging up. She takes another drink of wine still looking at meep. "I can see your mind working."

"I can't do anything about them taking the body back or eating the body in groups but I can do something about hiding bodies. If they are hiding bodies those bodies would eventually be found, and found bodies end up in the city morgue. So in that case the morgue would have to report how these bodies died or cover it up and make them disappear." Meep says still typing.

"You really think the city morgue is covering up hundreds of dead humans for unicorns?"

"It explains why these people are missing instead of considered suspicious deaths. I think the next step is to visit the city morgue and see if they have any answers, but we can't go tonight because they are still patrolling the streets looking for you."

"That's fine." Saturn says finishing her glass of wine and fetching a blanket. "I blend in better during the day anyways." She falls asleep to the quiet tapping of meep's computer.

Drizzle here! I was really considering splitting this chapter into two parts to make it more reader friendly but i don't want to have a 40 of half chapters. Especially since I have more stories to get out of my head. I hope it's not too difficult for you guys to read through. I am however going to stick to the tuesday/thursday schedule. See you thursday!
